Cobourg falls to Trenton in overtime, 3-2 (OT)

The Trenton Golden Hawks' Danny Hanlon scored 3:03 into overtime to beat the Cobourg Cougars, 3-2 (OT).

Trenton was led by Hanlon, who registered one goal.

Referees had their hands full with a major incident at 15:50 into the second period. Four fighting penalties were dished out along with three game misconducts.

Trenton also got points from Quinn Lenihan, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Trenton also got a goal from Liam Morgan as well. In addition, Trenton received assists from Adam Clements, who had one and Kevin Lavoie and Spencer Herbst, who each chipped in two.

Cobourg forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up eight minors and one major for 41 minutes in penalty time. The Cougars had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game.

Cobourg was helped by Mac Lowry, who tallied one goal. Lowry scored on the power play 18:44 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Cobourg. The Cougars had gotten the advantage when the Golden Hawks' Nick Boddy was sent off for handling the puck. Rory Milne provided the assist. Connor Inger also scored for Cobourg. Other players who recorded assists for Cobourg were Theo Lewis, who had one and Brennan Roy, who had two.

Daniel Urbani recorded 24 saves for Trenton. The Golden Hawks totaled 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 3-for-7 on the power play. Trenton ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Mac Lewis was ejected from the game. Tyler Lewis made 27 saves for Cobourg on 30 shots. The Cougars registered one goal on three power play opportunities. For Cobourg, Austin Veleke was ejected from the game.
