Burlington Cougars captain Chris Cobham (photo credit - Tim Bates/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the University of Guelph Gryphons beginning with the 2017-18 OUA season.

The 20-year old Guelph, Ontario native was well-travelled during his junior career.  After playing his minor midget 'AAA' season with the Toronto Nationals, Cobham would be selected by the Windsor Spitfires in the 10th round, 188th overall of the 2012 OHL Priority Selection.  After spending the 2012-13 season at The Gunnery Prep School in Washington, Connecticut, he returned home and made the jump to the OHL as a member of the Spits.  The 2014-15 season saw him kick-off the year as a member of the QMJHL's Moncton Wildcats, but ultimately Cobham returned closer to home, joining the Milton Icehawks midway through the year, where he would named an alternate captain.  He would record 15 points in 27 games played for the Icehawks and returned in 2015-16 as one of the club's leaders, notching nearly a point-per-game pace before he was traded to the Burlington Cougars midway through the season in their push to the post-season.  The lanky forward ultimately finished fourth on the Cougars in scoring last season with 18 goals and 58 points in 49 games played, but more importantly was a key member of the club's run to the South-West Conference Championship Series, before falling to the number one ranked Georgetown Raiders.  Cobham finished second in playoff scoring on the Cougars with 17 points in 16 games played.  Named Cougars' captain entering the 2016-17 season, the veteran looked to close-out his junior career strong and consistently hovered around the point-per-game pace once again, finishing the year with 47 points in 49 contests.  His efforts during the season earned a spot on the OJHL '96 All-Star Team that played an exhibition game against Team Canada East in preparation for the World Junior 'A' Challenge, notching an assist in a 6-3 loss.

Congratulations to Chris on a tremendous junior career and best of luck in the CIS!
