KEWL SOUTH-WEST CONFERENCE PLAYER-OF-THE-MONTH ANNOUNCED

3:32 PM EDT

October 11, 2017, Mississauga, Ontario The Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) announced today that Toronto Patriots forward Andrew Petrucci has been named the Kewl South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month for September after leading the Conference with 21 points in just 8 games played.

Entering his 3rd season in the OJHL and his second full season with the Patriots, the 20-year old picked-up where he left off in 2016-17 and started this season with an eight game point scoring streak in September, while scoring in every game so far this season to currently lead the OJHL in scoring with 28 points.  Petrucci managed two five-point outings in the month, including a four-goal performance versus Kingston at the OJHL Governors Showcase, while recording multiple points in six of eight games. On the strength of Petrucci’s 13 goals and 8 assists, the Patriots positioned themselves atop the South Division early this season and climbed to 11th in the CJHL Rankings prior to the end of the month.

The Toronto, Ontario native joined the Patriots to begin the 2016-17 season after a trade from the Milton Icehawks.  Originally a member of the St. Michael’s College School program, Petrucci played 9 games as an Affiliate Player for the St. Michael’s Buzzers in 2014-15.  The following year, 2015-16, Petrucci made the full-time jump to the OJHL, suiting up for both the Markham Royals and the Icehawks.  In his first season with the Patriots, Petrucci led his club in scoring including 26 goals on the season, double the single month output from his hot start to the 2017-18 season.  In the 2017 OJHL Playoffs, he would add two points in five post-season contests as they fell in the first round to Burlington.

Chris Karabassis of the Mississauga Chargers was runner-up to Petrucci as the South-West Conference Player-of-the-Month.  The forward was a huge reason for the Chargers getting off to a good start to the season, trailing only Petrucci in the entire OJHL in goals, scoring 9 and adding 8 assists to lead the team in scoring with 17 points in 11 games.
