Andrew McIntyre of the Oakville Blades (photo credit –  Ryan McCullough / OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division 1 St. Lawrence University Saints in Canton, NY, beginning with the 2018-19 season.

The native of Kitchener joined the Blades this season after helping the Elmira Sugar Kings win the Sutherland Cup, the OHA Jr. B championship, last spring. He previously played for the Kitchener Rangers minor midget AAA team and at Ridley College. McIntyre was drafted by the Kitchener Rangers in the 14th round of the 2015 OHL draft.

“Andrew has been a great addition to our Hockey club for this season,” said Oakville general manager Jordan Sellinger. “He brings exceptional speed, tenacity and a motor and work ethic that doesn’t stop. We have been able to utilize him in any situation and that versatility will serve both him and St. Lawrence well at the next level.”

“We hope that his championship pedigree from winning a Sutherland Cup last year with Elmira will help in what is hopefully a long playoff run for the Oakville Blades, which he will be a key part of.”

The 18-year-old winger scored 17 goals and assisted on 19 more in 52 games this season.

Congratulations to Andrew and best of luck in the NCAA!
