GAME 2 OF CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES POSTPONED DUE TO WEATHER

Game 2 of the Ontario Junior Hockey League Championship Series scheduled for tonight in Wellington has been postponed due to weather conditions. 

The game will be played Monday night in Wellington beginning at 7:30 p.m.

Wellington won Game 1 of the series, 4-3 in overtime Friday in Georgetown.

Environment Canada issued the following rainfall warning for Southern Ontario Sunday morning:Following an appreciable freezing rain event, a round of heavy rainfall is expected tonight. The rain may fall heavily at times with amounts likely in the 20 to 25 mm range. Some additional rainfall is likely into Monday, albeit lighter. Total rainfall amounts for Sunday night into Monday may be in the 25 to 35 mm range.”

The OJHL champions receive the Buckland Cup and a berth in the Dudley-Hewitt Cup tournament, the Central Canadian Jr. A Championships, May 1-5 in Dryden, Ont.

The Dryden Ice Dogs won Game 1 of the Superior International Junior Hockey League final, 3-2 in overtime over the Thunder Bay North Stars Saturday. Both teams have qualified for the Dudley.

The Rayside-Balfour Canadians defeated the Cochrane Crunch 4-1 Saturday evening to take a 2-0 lead in their Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League championship series. The winner advances to Dryden.
