Elijah Gonsalves of the Aurora Tigers (photo credit – Shawn Muir / OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the NCAA Division 1 Rochester Institute of Technology Tigers beginning with the 2019-20 season.
The 18-year-old from Toronto joined the Tigers last fall after spending the 2016-17 season with the Mississauga Rebels AAA midget team. He also played eight games that season with the Pickering Panthers of the OJHL. Gonsalves played his bantam and minor midget years with the AAA Vaughan Kings in the GTHL.
The 5-foot-9 forward had 43 points (14G/29A) this season with the North/East Conference regular season champion Tigers.
Five OJHL graduates were on the RIT roster this past season. Ex-OJHLer Chris Tanev (Markham, Stouffville, Whitby) played for the Tigers before signing as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks.
OJHL MVP Andrew Petrucci of the Toronto Patriots has committed to RIT beginning this fall.
Congratulations to Elijah and best of luck in the NCAA!
