Nik Kalpouzos of the Toronto Patriots (photo credit – Ryan McCullough /OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the U Sports Nipissing Lakers in North Bay beginning with the 2018-19 season.

Kalpouzos is the latest of nine 2017-18 Pats who have committed to a post-secondary institution in Canada or the United States.

An offensively gifted defenceman, Kalpouzos, 21, posted 67 points in 118 contests for the Patriots between 2016 and 2018.

The Toronto native joined the Pats following a season with the Newmarket Hurricanes of the OJHL. He played two years of midget AAA with the Toronto Nationals.

Other Patriots commits from this past season include: Lee Lapid (Canisius, DI), Anthony Petrucci (RIT, DI), Colton Kalezic (Northern Michigan, DI), Adam Petric, Max Routledge and Kyler Matthews (Canton, D3), Tyler Fassl (Laurier, U Sports) and Dante Spagnuolo (Mercyhurst, DI).

The Patriots won the 2017-18 OJHL regular season title before being eliminated by Georgetown in the semifinal of the league playoffs.
