Burlington Cougars rookie forward Justin Scott (photo credit - Izak Westgate/HHOF) has officially signed with the Barrie Colts and will join the club for the upcoming 2012-13 OHL season. The 6'1", 185 lbs native of Burlington joined the Cougars as a 16-year old this past season and made an immediate impact with the young club, finishing tied for third with 14 goals and fourth with 35 points in 47 regular season games played. He also led the team with three game-winning goals, while adding another three points in the playoffs.
Congratulations to Justin and best of luck at the next level! Below is the release from the Barrie Colts website (www.barriecolts.com): The Barrie Colts have announced today that they have signed forward Justin Scott to an Ontario Hockey League contract. Barrie Colts General Manager Jason Ford made the announcement on Monday afternoon at the Barrie Molson Centre. "Scott is a competitive two-way forward that had an excellent season and plenty of ice-time to develop as a 16-year old playing with the Burlington Jr. A team”, said Ford. The Colts originally selected Scott in the fourth round, 80th overall, in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. "Well obviously this is a very exciting time for me and my family," said Scott. "I'm very happy to be here in Barrie, this organization has developed some great players over the years and I'm really hoping to make the team next season." Last season the Burlington native posted 14 goals and 35 points in 47 games played with the Burlington Cougars Jr. A.
“He is a character kid and his game improved immensely this past season. He has very good hockey sense and his skill-level will put him into a position to contribute on the offensive-end over time”, added Ford. Click here to go back to news articles |
