Former Brampton Capitals netminder Randy Wolcott (photo credit - Richard Orr/Fitchburg State Athletics), now a member of the Fitchburg State University Falcons, was recently named the MASCAC Goaltender of the Week for the fifth time this season.

The native of East Haven, Connecticut would play the majority of his junior hockey near his hometown with the Connecticut Wolves and Hartford Jr. Wolf Pack, but would spend a portion of the 2007-08 season with the Brampton Capitals, playing in 11 games, while posting a 3-6 record for the club.  After one season with Wisconsin-Stevens Point, he joined the Falcons last year.

Below is the official press release from the Fitchburg State Athletics website (www.fscfalcons.com):

Junior Randy Wolcott (East Haven, Conn./Wisconsin-Stevens Point) was recently tabbed Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Goalie of the Week as announced by the league office Monday afternoon.

Wolcott collects his fifth weekly honor of the season after turning aside all 39 shots he faced in the Falcons 4-0 shutout victory over Worcester State University on Thursday evening in the lone contest for Fitchburg State on the week.

On the season, the second year Falcon has posted 581 saves with a 2.38 goals against average and a .934 save percentage, while logging over 1031 minutes between the pipes.

The Fitchburg State ice hockey team (9-11-2, 8-6-1 MASCAC) returns to action on Thursday as it visits the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth for a contest starting at 7:30 p.m.
