February 12, 2013
7:00 PM EST

Former Huntsville, Newmarket and Pickering netminder Brad Fogal (photo credit - Robert Keith/Central Hockey League), now with the Fort Worth Brahmas, was named Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for his recent performance.

A native of Sharon, Ontario, Fogal played three seasons in the OJHL, from 2004-07, as a member of the Newmarket Hurricanes, Huntsville Otters and Pickering Panthers. He would spend two stints with his nearby hometown in Newmarket, traded twice to Huntsville and Pickering, where he would end his junior career before moving on to Adrian College.  His time in the OJHL would also see him play in the 2005 OPJHL All-Star Game, stopping seven shots to pick-up a 12-7 victory for the North-West Conference.

Below is the official press release from the Central Hockey League website (www.centralhockeyleague.com):

The Central Hockey League announced today that Fort Worth Brahmas goaltender Brad Fogal has been named the Oakley Central Hockey League Goaltender of the Week for the period ending February 10, 2013.

In recognition of this weekly achievement, Fogal will receive a special gift from Oakley.  To learn more about all of Oakley’s products, visit www.oakley.com

Fogal earned wins last week against the Allen Americans and the Denver Cutthroats allowing just one goal in those two games combined.  The Sharon, Ontario native stopped 41 of 42 shots on the week with an 18 save effort in Tuesday’s 2-1 shootout win over the conference-leading Americans and a 23-save shutout performance (1-0) against Denver on Saturday.

The 5-10, 170-pound goalie is seventh in the CHL with a 2.63 goals against average to go along with his 12-8-1 record.
