Former Bramalea Blue and St. Michael's Buzzer Michael Hawkrigg (photo courtesy of Jonathan Lester Photo), now with the Trinity College Bantams, was named NESCAC Player of the Week for his recent performance in New England.

The Toronto, Ontario native played two seasons in the OJHL, joining the Bramalea Blues as a 16-year old in 2008-09 after being selected by the Ottawa 67's in the 7th round of the 2008 OHL Priority Selection.  The rookie would finish fifth in scoring on the last place club with 11 goals and 34 points in 44 games played.  The following season, Hawkrigg was traded to the Buzzers just 14 games into the season and he would finish fourth on the club in scoring with 14 goals and 33 points in 31 games played.  After two seasons in the EJHL, he found his way to Trinty College beginning this season.

Below is the official press release from the NESCAC website (www.nescac.com):

Michael Hawkrigg had five points in a 2-0 week for the Bantams, scoring what turned out to be the game-winning goal and adding a second tally in a 10-5 win over Bowdoin in the regular season finale on Monday. In a 5-4 overtime win against sixth seeded Wesleyan in the NESCAC quarterfinals, Hawkrigg scored the game-tying goal to force overtime with 1:09 left. He then added the game-winner with 2:02 left in the extra frame. He also had an assist against the Cardinals to lift the third seeded Bantams to their first semifinal appearance since 2010.
