The Toronto, Ontario native started his junior career as a two-game midget call-up to the Jr. Canadiens in 2008-09, recording a single assist during the short stint. The following year, he made the jump to the OJHL (then CCHL) full-time, recording 15 points in 45 games played for Toronto, while two of his five goals were game-winners. After spending the past two years in the CCHL, Baun made the jump to Colgate and NCAA Division I play this season.

The Stouffville, Ontario native joined the OJHL as a 17-year old member of the Markham Waxers in 2009-10 and the affiliated midget would record six points in 15 games played from the blueline; a sign of things to come over the next two seasons. The following year, he made the jump fulltime with his hometown Spirit and the 6'3", 210 lbs. rearguard would post impressive numbers with 31 assists and 34 points in 50 games played. He then notched another eight points in the playoffs during the Spirit's impressive playoff run that saw them fall in the semi-final to the eventual league champion Wellington Dukes. The 2011-12 season would see Geiger take his game to even greater heights, ultimately leading his hometown to their first-ever OJHL Championship title, before losing a heartbreaker in the championship game of the 2012 Dudley-Hewitt Cup. Finishing as the league's second leading scorer among defencemen with 54 points in 43 games, Geiger would be named a 1st Team All-Star and OJHL Top Defenceman, as well as to the OHA All-Prospect Team. Earlier in the year he was also a member of Team Canada East, winning silver at the 2011 World Junior 'A' Challenge in Langley, B.C., and finished as runner-up with the OJHL North Division All-Stars at the inaugural Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge that was held in Smiths Falls, Ontario.
