VEES HOLD HOME ICE ADVANTAGE
Known for their defensive play, the Kingston Voyageurs received timely goal scoring from their back-end as they maintained home ice advantage with a 3-1 victory over the Newmarket Hurricanes in game three of the North-East Conference Championship.

After being heavily outshot in Newmarket during game two, the Vees absolutely peppered Hurricanes netminder Matthew Wintjes with 54 shots on the night. The veteran backstop turned aside 51 shots in a losing effort as his teammates could only beat Charlie Finn once in 32 shots on net.
Hurricanes leading scorer Daniel Leavens opened the scoring five minutes into the contest, but late in the period defencema Brett Du Puy tied the game with a beautiful goal on the power play.
After a scoreless second period in which the Vees outshot Newmarket 21-8, the teams came out for a tight checking third period. Rearguard Jarret Kup would score his first OJHL goal in two seasons (also played 2009-10 with the Seguin Bruins) potted the game-winner eight minutes into the third, followed by Junior Harris into the empty net.
David Quesnele with a pair of assists was named the game's first star for the Vees, with Brandon O'Quinn and Alex Tonge named stars two and three respectively.
Game four in the best-of-seven series, that sees Kingston with a 2-1 edge, takes place on Tuesday, April 2 at the Ray Twinney Complex in Newmarket with puck drop at 7:30pm.
