SPROUL NAMED CHL DEFENCEMAN OF YEAR
Former Bramalea Blues and Vaughan Vipers rearguard Ryan Sproul (photo credit - Aaron Bell/CHL Images), now with the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds, has been named the CHL Defenceman of the Year for his performance this past season.
The 6'4", 200 lbs. native of Mississauga, Ontario is a product of the Vaughan Kings Minor Midget 'AAA' program before joining the Bramalea Blues as a 16-year old in 2009-10. Sproul would split the season between the Blues and Vaughan Vipers, playing seven games in Bramalea before a mid-season trade took him back to Vaughan. During an eight game stint with the Vipers, the rearguard would notch his first junior goal and play his first two post-season games. Entering 2010-11 with a full-time role in Vaughan, Sproul would record three points in three games before joining the Greyhounds fulltime.
Sproul led all OHL defencemen in scoring with 66 points in just 50 games tying teammate Colin Miller for the league-lead in goals among blueliners with 20 while adding 46 assists.
Congratulations to Ryan on a tremendous 2012-13 season!
