St. Michael's Buzzers defenceman Cody Doiron (photo credit - Mike Ivall/OJHL Images) has confirmed his commitment to join the Concordia University Wisconsin Falcons beginning with the 2013-14 NCHA season.

The native of Bolton, Ontario made his first appearance in the OJHL (then CCHL) as a 17-year old member of the Markham Waxers in 2009-10, recording nine points in 34 regular season games played.  During the off-season, the lanky rearguard was moved to the Mississauga Chargers, where he would lead the club's blueline with 7 goals and 27 points in 37 games played.  Now a highly-regarded, offensively talented defenceman, Doiron was on the move once again, this time to the perennial-contending Oakville Blades organization.  After notching only a single assist in 10 games played, Doiron was on the move once again, this time to the Pickering Panthers, where he once again led the club's blueliners with four goals.  This past season saw him at the top of the Panthers scoring chart before a trade deadline deal saw him on the move to the South Division leading St. Michael's Buzzers.  Doiron finished second to OJHL Top Defenceman Patrick McCarron with 8 goals and 35 points in 53 games played, also seventh and ninth respectively among all OJHL defenceman.  Doiron was even better in the post-season, leading all Buzzers from the  point with 13 points in 24 games played to help the club capture the OJHL Championship for the first time since 2006.

"Cody was an integral part of our playoff run," said Buzzers General Manager and Head Coach Rich Ricci.  "His composure under pressure was a calming influence for our young backend.  Cody logged heavy minutes and was significant for our powerplay.  More than that, he was an outstanding fit in our dressing room.  The Buzzers wish Cody  success and with his new team and school."

"Cody is a great addition to our hockey program," said Falcons Assistant Men's Varsity Hockey Coach Zach Gaynor, "and with his work ethic, size, skating ability, and offensive production he will have an immediate impact. Seeing Cody in royal blue this fall will be fun for the fans of Falcon hockey to see and we are excited to see him patrol the blueline for the next four years at CUW!"

Congratulations to Cory on a tremendous finish to his OJHL careerr and best of luck as he continues forward!
