LEBLANC SIGNS WITH SUDBURY
Oakville Blades defenceman Stefan LeBlanc (photo credit - Michael DiCarlo/OJHL Images) confirmed his commitment and officially signed with the OHL's Sudbury Wolves yesterday.
The Oakville native joined the Blades this past season after captaining the Oakville Rangers Minor Midget 'AAA' squad in 2011-12 and being selected by the Sudbury Wolves in the 7th round, 136th overall, of the 2012 OHL Priority Selection. The 16-year old would not disappoint in his first junior campaign, quarterbacking the Blades defensive corps by leading the group in scoring with 33 points in 49 regular season games played, also the fifth best total on the entire Oakville roster and tied for 10th overall among all rearguards in the OJHL. LeBlanc's 29 assists were tied for seventh best among OJHL defencemen, while notching 19 of his 33 points on the power play.
“It is a tremendous honour to sign a contract with the Sudbury Wolves. Sudbury is a great hockey town and the history the organization has here in Sudbury is truly outstanding,” noted LeBlanc. “I'm looking forward to having a chance to play for a great organization in Sudbury, but simply playing here will not satisfy me. I want to make a contribution to the team and do my best to help the team win every night. I also look forward to developing my game to the next level.”
Wolves’ GM Blaine Smith adds, “Stefan had an outstanding season in Oakville last season and developed into one of the best offensive defencemen in the Ontario Provincial Junior League as a 16-year-old. Stefan is an outstanding skater, competes very hard and plays in all situations. He is very focused on his hockey career and his education and will be a terrific addition to the Sudbury Wolves line-up.”
Congratulations to Stefan on the signing and best of luck as he takes his game to the OHL!
