BUCKLES DRAFTED BY FLORIDA
St. Michael's Buzzers forward and OJHL Top Prospect Matt Buckles (photo credit - Dan Hickling) was the first OJHL player selected in the 2013 NHL Draft, being picked in the 4th round, 98th overall by the Florida Panthers.
Buckles, who started his OJHL career with the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, was traded last off-season to the Buzzers and would help lead the club to an OJHL title, leading the club in scoring during the regular season. On NHL Central Scouting's radar all-season, Buckles was named an OJHL 1st Team All-Prospect and the Top Prospect Award winner.
