ALUMNI WIN GOLD AT MACCABIAH GAMES

Ten former OJHL players, as well as North York Rangers therapist Jason Izraelski, recently took home the gold medal as members of Team Canada that competed at the 19th Maccabiah Games that are being held in Israel.
Coached by former NHLer Guy Carbonneau, the group went undefeated during the four team tournament, ultimately winning gold by defeating Team USA 7-1 in the gold medal contest. Former Hamilton Red Wing and CJHL Player of the Year, Zach Hyman notched the game winner early in the 1st period and went on to record a hat trick, as well as a pair of assists, to be named the 1st Star of the Game. Former Red Wings teammate Noah Schwartz was also named 3rd Star for Canada. Former Toronto Jr. Canadien Daniel Erlich tallied three points in the game, while team captain Adam Henrich was named MVP of the tournament.

Also capturing the gold medal in hockey was the Team Canada under-19 men's club with a come-from-behind 3-2 victory over Team USA. Members of the U19 squad include Pickering Panthers forward Brent Tuchner, as well as Stouffville Spirit midget-affiliate Brandon Klerer, who was one of the netminders, while Toronto Jr. Canadiens head coach Mario Cicchillo was behind the bench for the junior club.
