EAST DIVISION WEEK-IN-REVIEW

September 16, 2013
8:00 PM EDT

The East Division is going to be a close fight all the way through. Although a glance at the standings right now doesn't make it seem that way, all of the games played between the division have been very close and is going to shape up to be a great year. With a week and a bit in the bag, here is your Week in Review

Game of the Week Review: Trenton GoldenHawks 6-2 Wellington Dukes

The Battle of Quinte had its season debut on Friday night, as the Wellington Dukes took the jaunt to Trenton to take on the Golden Hawks at Duncan Memorial.  After disappointing ends to both teams seasons last year, both squads were ready to start the season off with a bang.  The game started off fairly even with Trenton getting on the board early from a Danny Liscio marker. Wellington would come back with two late goals from Sophomore Joe Mckeown and new comer Steven Deeg. The second period saw the Golden Hawks tie things up and then Andrew McCann scored to put them by one.  The Third period is where everything came unglued for Wellington throwing everything at Trenton goaltender Denny Dubblestyne, 54 shots. After going 0 for 4 on the powerplay frustration took its toll, forward Mike Soucier took an undisciplined Checking from Behind penalty and was ejected from the game. Trenton then added three more tallies including an empty netter to seal the deal. This was just a taste of what is to come this season in the battle of Quinte and fans should look forward to the next time these two teams meet.

Game of the Week Preview: Georgetown @ Wellington – Friday September 20th 7:30
After losing their last two games in not such good form, the Dudley Hewitt Cup Hosts Wellington Dukes are looking to restart with their Home Opener. With all the pressure for the Dukes to go into the Dudley Hewitt tournament as champions, and the heat has been turned up and players know that if they don’t perform they will be moved. The Georgetown Raiders come in as party crashers, another team with high expectations and so far they are on the right course posting a 2-1-1 record on opening week. They will come into the Essroc Arena trying to spoil the Dukes homecoming.

3 STARS OF THE WEEK
3. Brett Seney – Kingston Voyageurs
The sophomore is off to a flying start. After racking up 3 goals and 10 points in 49 games last season, Seney is a third of the way from matching that, and just in one weekend. This won't be the last time this season that Seney's name will show up in the 3 stars.
2. Denny Dubblestyne – Trenton GoldenHawks
The Former Jr. Canadiens goaltender, amongst other teams, had a fantastic debut with his new team. Denny stopped 52 en route to his first W in a Trenton uniform.
1. Danny Liscio – Trenton GoldenHawks
The 1994 born forward is looking to build off of his two previous seasons in the OJHL. In Trenton's two games this week, Danny had 2 goals and 5 points to help the GoldenHawks earn all 4 points available to them.

Rookie of the Week
Liam Grande – Cobourg Cougars
The rookie forward has shown the league that he is here to play. There was some good hype surrounding Grande after coming off a great Midget season and so far so good. He is a player that buzzes all over the ice and is very intense with a lot of intensity. It is just the first week, but here is hoping he can avoid a big drop off and a long drought.
