COUGARS SUPPORT BABY FOOD/NEEDS DRIVE

October 18, 2013
8:00 PM EDT

Last year, Burlington hockey families, including the Burlington City Rep. Eagles and Burlington Cougars Jr. A Hockey Club showed tremendous compassion by collecting and donating an astounding 207,688.8 lbs of non-perishable goods during their food drive in mid-November!  Close to 104 tons of food were donated to the hungry and those in need in our community of Burlington.

If all goes according to plan this year, the Carpenter Hospice will, once again, have enough food to last them for one year.  Halton Women’s Place will have enough food for one year, Partnership West will be able to stock their shelves for one year, and the Salvation Army will be able to support the many needy families in our community for many months to come.  Hundreds of Christmas hampers will also be packed up and distributed to families in Burlington to make Christmas a little brighter for some of our neighbours.

The Burlington Cougars are once again partnering to help collect food and other items of need for babies right here in Burlington.  There is a major need for items like:
• Formula and Infant Cereal
• Pureed Vegetables and Fruit
• Pureed Poultry, Meat, Tofu or Cottage Cheese
• Cloth Diapers, Disposable Diapers

Please join us at the Wave Twin Rinks ALL DAY on October 27th when we will be collecting these very necessary items, which will be distributed to families in need in Burlington.

Our volunteers will have bins on hand at the WTR throughout the day and we are planning on having a big crowd on hand to see the Burlington Cougars take on the Mississauga Chargers.  Enjoy the game and bring along some of the items needed to help take care of the people in our community.

The Cougars are also looking for volunteers to assist at several pick-up locations across Burlington.  Please contact nlongaphy@wavehockey.ca if you have time to volunteer towards this amazing, annual event.
