St. Michaels rolls over Mississauga, 4-1

The Mississauga Chargers had trouble finding ways to stop the St. Michaels Buzzers, which beat Chargers, 4-1.

 

Mississauga's power play was ineffective against St. Michaels' penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

The Buzzers were paced by Ryan Hunt, who tallied one goal. Hunt scored 10:07 into the second period to make the score 2-1 St. Michaels. Marco Ferraro picked up the assist.

St. Michaels stifled the Chargers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Buzzers forced Mississauga goalie Austin Washkurak to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. St. Michaels could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 64 minutes in penalties during the game.

Others who scored for St. Michaels included Noah Jordan, who had one and David Italiano, who had two. In addition, St. Michaels received assists from CJ Shugart, who had two and Danylo Znaczko, Thomas Beretta, Ted Hunt, Matt Pepler, and Anthony Filoso, who each chipped in one.

The Chargers forced their penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up 13 minors and one major for 61 minutes in penalty time. Mississauga surpassed its season average of 21.0 penalty minutes per game. The Chargers' power play unit failed to produce, and was held to zero goals on 10 chances.

Mississauga was led by Nick Tetley, who scored the team's only goal. Tetley scored 6:57 into the second period to make the score 1-1. Stefano Alonzi provided the assist.

George Argiropoulos recorded 20 saves for the Buzzers. St. Michaels registered one goal on 10 power play opportunities. Washkurak rejected 43 shots on goal for the Chargers. For Mississauga, Patrick Mooney, Zachery Berg, and Mitch Mehling were ejected from the contest.
