Brampton Joins OJBLL For 2012
At the October 16th, 2011 meeting of the Ontario Jr. B Lacrosse Council, a proposal for a new Jr. B franchise was presented by the Brampton Excelsiors. The proposal received the necessary votes to grant Brampton a Jr. B franchise.
This represents a return to Jr. B for Brampton, after a 16-year absence during which they concentrated on their Jr. A program. A Brampton committee rep commented that, due to the large number of graduates from the Minor program, a Jr. B team was once again necessary, in order that their players would have a team at home for which they could play.
At the recent Ontario Lacrosse Association AGM in Niagara Falls on November 4th, 2011, the OLA Board of Governors ratified the Jr. B Council decision and accepted the new Brampton Excelsiors Jr. B Team into full membership in the OLA.
Mike Miles has been selected to head up the team staff in the position of General Manager in charge of operations. Mike has most recently been on the coaching staff of the Newmarket Saints Jr. B Team and previously with the Brampton Minor organization holding many coaching and executive positions. Brampton will announce their bench staff selections shortly.
Submitted by Dave Vernon, Jr. B Commissioner.
