Martin Dagenais, head coach and general manager of the Ottawa Jr. Senators has been named Manager of the Year in the Central Canada Hockey League.

The native of Embrun, Ontario made a flurry of moves before the 2014-15 season, one of them being a blockbuster deal with the Hawkesbury Hawks which saw the Senators acquire veteran Carl Faucher, two-way forward Zacharie Car, and rookie Ryan Cranford, in exchange for a few players, including all-star forward Hunter Racine.

He then shipped Zac Tierney to Cornwall for defensive defenceman Matthew Cruickshank. His best deal however could be the one that did not look like much at the time. Jim Pearson was brought in to Ottawa from Carleton Place, and Dagenais only had to give up a 3rd round pick and a 20 year old card for him. Pearson ended up finishing seventh overall in league scoring.

Recruits Johnathan Kovacevic, Daniel Sarracco, Sean Rappleyea, and Charles Corriveau all played a big role in Ottawa's success this season, and the four of them are expected to be back next season.

During the regular season, Dagenais made three other moves, all of them to add size to his forward group. Connor Bebb, Bruno Cheff, and Brandon Watt were all added to the mix for different reasons. The three of them were a big part of a Senators' team that won the Yzerman divison for the third consecutive year.

Martin Dagenais and the Ottawa Jr. Senators will play their first playoff game against an unknown opponent Wednesday, March 11th at the Jim Durrell Complex. The game will start at 7:30pm.
