Pierre Trappers Roster Nearing Completion With 22 Players Signed

The Pierre Trappers of the Expedition League have been working hard to fill their 30-man roster with the 2018 season a few months away. As they stand now, they have 22 of 30 players under contract for their inaugural campaign. These players have come from all over from east to west, and some from right here in South Dakota. 

They were able to land infielder Cameron McGrath and outfielder Daniel Head from Everett Community College in Washington. McGrath and Head with join fellow Trojan Nic Anderson on the Trappers roster.

Two junior college players who have committed to Abilene Christian University in Texas will be joining forces on the infield in Pierre this season. Shortstop Michael Herrera and first baseman Zane Phelps are both at Scottsdale Community College finishing up their sophomore seasons with the Fighting Artichokes before they transfer to ACU in the fall. They will be staying together for a pit stop at Hyde Stadium this summer.

Pitchers Connor and Tyler McDonald will be joining us this summer after they are done with their junior year at Monmouth College in Illinois. The McDonalds are twin brothers, and will be playing their second year of summer league ball after playing together with the Laramie Colts last season.

Pitcher Niko Jenkins is coming to Pierre from Division I La Salle University in Philadelphia. Along with his arm, the Trappers have signed pitchers AJ Fell out of Spring Hill College in Alabama, James Harden of Hope University in California, and Drew Marovich of Aurora University in Illinois.

The Trappers rounded out their outfield by signing Jack Stamper out of University of Alabama-Huntsville. He will joining Caleb Kyle, Cody Ulfers, and Daniel Head to patrol the outfield at Hyde Stadium.

Pitcher Anthony Fidanza and infielder Cole Johnson will be calling Pierre home for the summer after signing out of Holmes Community College in Mississippi. They are both freshman.

Last, the Trappers signed Rapid City, South Dakota product Seth Brewer who is a freshman at Bismarck State College. He is currently a pitching and playing outfield for the Mystics.

The Trappers season starts May 25th on the road in Aberdeen at they trying to derail the Hub City Hotshots. Their home opener is the next day, May 26th, against Hub City.
