NewsWaza Silence Vortex in 12-1 Home Opener Blowout
(Detroit, Michigan) - Detroit WAZA FLO celebrated a resounding victory Saturday night before a packed and enthusiastic home crowd beating the Ohio Vortex 12-1. Zach Branca started the scoring early for Ohio, but Detroit answered back with a goal by Darrel Quinn (assisted by Miki Djerisilo) and another by returning WAZA alumni Drew Ducker (assisted by Fernando Gatica). Early in the second quarter, Ducker again found the back of the net (assisted by Gatica) and "Man of the Match" Valentino Scicluna put in his first of four goals for the evening (assisted Djerisilo) The third and fourth quarters were a display of technical skill and creative scoring, proving Ohio no match for Detroit's veteran talent. Costea Decu had a great return to the pitch scoring three (assists by Djerisilo, Ducker and Niki Djokic) with Fernando Gatica (assist by Doug Rice) and crowd favorite Aaron Byrd each adding a point. Another notable stand-out was the return of WAZA alum, Worteh Sampson, with three assists for the night.
