PASL's Sockers Win US Team Sports Record 41st Straight Game

The Professional Arena Soccer League's San Diego Sockers broke the US Professional Team Sports record with their 41st consecutive victory.  The Sockers defeated the Mexico Toros 14-4 before a season-high 4,124 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.  The margin of victory left no doubts about the Sockers prowess.

Kraig Chiles scored a career-high eight goals -- and just missed a league record-tying ninth when he ripped a shot off the crossbar with less than a minute remaining in the game -- to pace the Sockers rout.

San Diego eclipsed the four-year old record set by the indoor football Sioux Falls Storm.  The Storm won 40 straight from 2005 to 2008.  The Sockers last loss was 12/27/10.

The Sockers signed former league MVP Brian Farber on 1/8/11 and Farber has not tasted defeat with the team.  Since joining the Sockers, Farber, who had one goal and three assists tonight, is 32-0 in games in which he has appeared.

Chiles, who had six goals last game, became only the second PASL player to score eight goals in a game. In just four games this year he has 19 goals, putting him on pace to easily break his league record of 46 goals set last season.

The Sockers, in their fourth PASL season, have also never lost at home, improving to 38-0 at the Del Mar Arena and the Valley View Casino Center, which became their new venue this season.

San Diego improved to 4-0 on the 2012/13 season, while Mexico fell to 1-3.
