NewsDallas Sidekicks Defeat Texas Strikers 16-4 on the Road, Remain Undefeated at 6-0
BEAUMONT, Texas—The Dallas Sidekicks defeated the Texas Strikers on the road 16-4 Saturday night, extending the Sidekicks record to 6-0. The Sidekicks took an early lead in the first quarter with a pair of goals from Jamie Lovegrove. Two more Dallas goals from Renato Pereira and Paolo da Silva went unanswered, and the Sidekicks were up 4-0 at the end of the quarter. Dallas began another four-goal rally quickly in the second quarter, Franck Mbemba extending his scoring streak to five games with a goal at 3:26. Soon after, Michael Uremovich got his seventh of the season at 4:46. Almost a minute later and less than 20 seconds apart, Mbemba and da Silva each scored their second of the night. Texas’ Kyamran Tairov quickly responded with a powerplay goal and put the Strikers on the board at 7:55. Jose Olabarrieta continued the Texas spree, taking advantage of a penalty kick at 12:29. Lovegrove struck back at 14:42, completing his first hat trick of the season and putting the Sidekicks up 9-2 going into halftime. RJ Luevano kicked off scoring in the third quarter, getting an early goal at 1:28. Uremovich scored his second of the night on the powerplay at 4:29. Texas responded with a powerplay goal of their own from Jonathan Sanchez, but soon after Mbemba struck again at 10:24 and secured his third hat trick in three games. Mbemba continued his onslaught in the fourth quarter, scoring his fourth of the night—tying the single-player season-high for the Sidekicks—at 1:01. Carlos Videla scored two quick goals in the following minutes, and Lovegrove struck at 11:55, also getting his fourth of the night. Texas’ Dominic Brame was rewarded on an unassisted effort at 12:08, but the Sidekicks came away with the win with a final score of 16-4. The Sidekicks will return home to the Allen Event Center to face the Rio Grande Valley Flash on Thursday, January 3 at 7:30 p.m. Individual and season tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
