Two weekend victories for the Chicago Mustangs, vs Rockford Rampage, and vs. Cincy Saints in US Open
The Chicago Mustangs (10-3) came out a winner during Saturday’s game against the Rockford Rampage (6-6) with an 8-5 victory that gives the Mustangs a 2-1 advantage in the “I-90 Showdown” series.
For Chicho Cuevas, Mustangs’ coach, “it was a close game, very physical, but as the game progressed we took control of the field and finished strong”.
No time for celebrations as the Mustangs had to put their minds on Sunday’s game against Cincinnati.
Hosting the Saints was not an easy task but Chicago was able to control de game after a very difficult first half to earn a spot in the US Open Cup’s semifinal. 10-7 was the final score and the Mustangs will now face Detroit next Sunday. The winner of this game will host the US Open Final against San Diego Sockers.
Nestor Hernandez said after the game, “It was a difficult game, they came out swinging, and they gave their best to try to win the game”.
The Chicago Mustangs will play their next two games at home, on Sunday January 27th when they host the Detroit Waza at 4:30 PM and the Harrisburg Heat on Friday February 1st at 7 PM at the Grand Sports Arena (Hoffman Estates, IL).
