Kings Fail to Keep a Lead
Komoka Kings take a 3-4 loss against the London Nationals on Wednesday night after taking an early 3-1 lead in the first period.
Jacob Rochford scored his 7th of the season at 5:42 of the 1st period with assists by Chase Strychaluk and Joel Mazzilli. At 9:59 Joel Mazzilli notched his 12th of the season, with assists by Chase Strychaluk and Jacob Rochford, to give the Kings a 2-0 lead. The Nationals got one back at 10:22 but Liam Whittaker took a nice pass from Dario Beljo and Blake McConnell-Barker and put it by the far post at 14:34, his 7th of the season, to give the Kings a 3-1 lead after one period. In the second period the Nationals got a power play goal at 16:39 of the 2nd period to end the period with a 3-2 lead for the Kings. London got the tying goal at 4:18 and another at 12:38 for a 3-4 lead. The Kings pinned the Nationals in their end after pulling Nathan Young from the crease but couldn't capitalize for the equalizer.
Nathan Young faced 34 Nationals shots and the Kings fired 21 shots at the Nationals goalies Zachary Springer, and former King Jukka Schotter who shut-out the Kings in his 45 minutes in the Nationals net.
The Kings next game is in Sarnia on Thursday night against the Legionnaires at the Sarnia Arena, before returning to face the St Thomas Stars at the Komoka Wellness Centre on Saturday evening - 7:15 puck drop, for the annual Veterans Appreciation Night.
