7:00 PM EST

One of the closest races in recent history for the top four positions in the ACH, ended this past weekend as the league completed its 72 scheduled games with the Norwood Vipers visiting the Stoney Creek Generals.

The top four positions were up for grabs going into the final weekend with the Dundas Real McCoys eventually, taking the League pennant with 18 wins in 24 games, for 38 points combined with two overtime losses.

The Whitby Dunlops who went into the weekend with a one point lead in the standings surrendered the lead to Dundas after a 7-3 loss to the McCoys on Thursday evening.

The Dunlops finished second, one point behind first place Dundas.

Dundas then repeated their Thursday night effort with a win at home over the Brantford Blast the following evening by an identical 7-3 score, leaving the Blast in third place 5 points out of first place and 4 points out of second.

First year franchise, Stoney Creek Generals, nailed down 4th place and the final play off position, with 30 points, 3 points behind Brantford.

Two teams, the Welland Whalers, and the Norwood Vipers, failed to make the playoffs this year, finishing in 5th and 6th place respectively.

The 2014 ACH playoffs begins this coming weekend with Dundas playing host to Stoney Creek, and Whitby hosting Brantford.
