DUNDAS—Standout goalkeeping by Mike Mole and three goals by Cam Watson plus an insurance marker by defenceman Simon Mangos gave the Dundas Real McCoys a 4-2 victory over the Brantford Blast, and the Ontario Hockey Association’s John Ross Robertson Cup before a capacity crowd tonight in the JL Grightmire Arena.

The Blast fought hard to unseat the defending Allan Cup Tournament champions, but in the end Dundas won the best-of-seven final 4-2 in games to advance for a fifth time to the Ontario Hockey Federations’ Renwick Challenge Cup final against the Kenora Thistles.

The difference tonight was the standout netminding by Mole in the Dundas net.  In the final 12 minutes of the game, he withstood two solid challenges by Brantford snipers, which turned the tide in the McCoys favour.

Late in the game, Brantford netminder Anthony Marshall tried to leave the crease in favour of an extra attacker on two occasions, first with 1:04 left to play, and then again with 38 seconds to go.

Then with Marshall off, Brantford called for a 30-second time out to map out its strategy only to see it all evaporate as Dan Lapointe won the faceoff outside the Dundas blueline, and feed a pass back to Mangos at the top of the left faceoff circle.  Mangos gathered the puck in and launched a shot the length of the ice into the yawning Brantford net.

In addition to Watson and Mangos, Jeff White, Steve Hurst, Greg Stewart, Duncan Dalmao, Beni Berisha, and Lapointe picked up single assists.  Chris Rebernik paced Brantford with a goal and assist with Cam Sault adding the goal.  Chris Leveille assisted on two scoring plays while Mike Burgoyne set up another.
