LAPLANTE RE-SIGNS WITH DUNDAS

December 11, 2015
7:03 AM EST

DUNDAS—Everything’s going to be “Jake” for the Dundas Real McCoys of the Allan Cup Hockey league.

Tonight, Don Robertson President and General Manager of the McCoys announced that six-foot, four-inch (199-pound) defenceman Jake Laplante has re-signed with the Senior AAA club.  Laplante’s career with the McCoys ended before it began last season when he suffered a season-ending injury in his second game with Dundas.

Jake’s return could not come at a better time. Friday night (December 11), the McCoys play the Hamilton Steelhawks at 7:30 p.m. in the Grightmire and then head to Whitby the following night (December 12) to take on the Dunlops at 6:30 p.m. in Whitby’s Iroquois Sports Complex.

Friday night, the annual Salvation Army Food Drive continues in the JL Grightmire Arena, with Santa Claus coming to town for the Dundas Real McCoys Teddy Bear Toss and CHML’s Toy Drive on Friday, December 18.

"Getting Jake back will add some much needed depth to our defence, and at 6-4 he'll add some badly needed size on the back end as well,” said coach Ron Bernacci.

The 26-year-old Laplante was born at Mississauga and played three seasons with the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League.  He enjoyed three more seasons with Brock University in Canadian Interuniversity Sports Hockey League before heading to Europe where he played for Austria in the Olimpija Ljubljana. Jake was drafted in 2005 in the ninth round by  Peterborough in the OHL Priority Selections.
