ACH Weekend Wrap Up: Feb. 3, 2020

ONTARIO – There’s a new league leader after weekend games in the Allan Cup Hockey (ACH) league.
Three games highlighted the weekend (Jan. 31-Feb 2) schedule with one game played on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The winners of the weekend was certainly the Hamilton Steelhawks who have taken over first place in the ACH after earning two wins.
FRIDAY, JAN. 31, 2020
Friday’s matchup featured the two top-seeded teams in the ACH. Dundas recently had a six-game win streak snapped, while the Steelhawks were looking to win its fifth in a row. Hamilton’s took a 2-0 first period lead into the second and never looked back and defeated the Real McCoys 7-3. This was Hamilton’s first of two weekend games and was the club’s 11th win of the season. Dundas have lost just twice in regulation since Dec. 13. A full recap of the game can be viewed HERE.
SATURDAY, FEB. 1, 2020
Saturday’s lone game featured the Steelhawks and Whitby Dunlops. The Dunlops are last in the League standings but picked up their third win of the season when they beat Brantford 6-3 on Jan. 25. Hamilton and Whitby were knotted up at 1-1 in the middle frame before the Steelhawks rattled of three unanswered goals to lead 4-1. The game would end 4-1 for Hamilton, who served Whitby its 13th loss of the season. The full game story can be seen HERE.
SUNDAY, FEB. 2, 2020
The Real McCoys travelled to Brantford to face the Blast on Sunday. A back and forth game between the two teams saw the head to overtime tied 4-4. In extra time, Rob Hisey capped things off for the Blast with his fourth of the season, earning Brantford its eighth win of the season. The Blast trail second-place Dundas by nine points in the League standings.
