Tigers Win Big And Dundas Ends Gryphins Streak

All four teams were in action on Friday night with Stoney Creek visiting Brampton and Dundas hosting Wentworth.
The Stoney Creek Tigers rebounded a day after dropping an 8-6 game to Wentworth by nothing 19 goals against the Brampton Buccaneers.
The Buccaneers scored three of the game’s first four goals, but from there it was all Stoney Creek who had seven goals in the first, four in the second and eight in the final frame. After scoring three in the first, Brampton would only be able to score once in each of the final two periods.
Stoney Creek would see nine different players find the back of the net in the contest. Cordell James led the way for the Tigers, scoring three times and adding seven assists while teammate Cole Poliziani had a pair of goals and seven assists. Also scoring for the Tigers were Michael Ruberto (4), Joel Knight (3), Dominik Crogorac (2), Jordan Gignac (2), and singles from Dan Poliziani, Chris Knighton and Bo Webster.
For Brampton Dante Massi had two goals and two assists and Austin Whelan picked up a goal and two assists in the loss. Picking up the other goals for the Buccaneers were Ryan Fritz and Billy Desson.

The marquee matchup of the night saw the Dundas Real McCoys take on the Wentworth Gryphins who entered the contest with a nine-game winning streak. That streak would be snapped as Dundas defeated the Gryphins 9-7.
The teams would trade goals in the first with the Real McCoys book ending a pair of goals by Wentworth. In the second, Nathan Longpre scored twice for Dundas in first 49 seconds of the period before Marc Silvestri got the Gryphins back within a goal with a power play marker. Phil Brewer regained the two-goal lead for Dundas with a power play goal of his own. Silvestri closed out the scoring in the middle stanza, making it a one goal game once again.
In the final 20-minutes of regulation, the teams combined for seven goals. Kevin Harvey evened the score at five just 2:40 into the game. It stayed that way until Mackenzie Wood scored his second of the game at 4:16 and Shane Conacher lit the lamp with a power play goal for Dundas. However, it was the Gryphins’ turn to score a pair with Kyle Lewis and Remy Giftopoulos bulging the twine, with the latter coming with the man advantage.
With time ticking down, Conacher scored his second goal of the period, unassisted, at 15:44 and Cam Fergus scored an insurance marker into an empty net for the win.
Mike Mole earned his second win of the year, stopping 33 of 40 shots for Dundas, while Matt Camilleri made 33 saves on the night.
Wentworth returns home on Thursday night to host the Stoney Creek Tigers at the Harry Howell Arena in Flamborough with first place on the line. The Real McCoys’ next game is on Friday when they host the Buccaneers at the J. L. Grightmire Arena. Both games begin at 7:30pm.
