Early lead not enough for the Gaithersburg Giants, drop 6-1 decision to the Baltimore Redbirds

The Gaithersburg Giants (14-16) built an early edge on Sunday, but the Baltimore Redbirds (22-7) roared back to steal a 6-1 victory at Calvert Hall HS.

An RBI single by Utah Jones gave the Baltimore Redbirds the lead in the fourth inning.

Nicholas Fortes racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Baltimore Redbirds. He tripled in the fourth innings and doubled in the fifth inning.

Eli Nabholz pitched lights out for the Baltimore Redbirds. Nabholz held the Gaithersburg Giants hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Mark Curtis got the win, running his season record to 3-1. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered one hit.

Nick DeCarlo (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
