Tikis Fall to the Flyers 5-2 - Sportsgate Brockville
Sportsgate Brockville
HOCKEY: A two-minute-and-five-second surge early in the third period that netted two goals proved to be too little, too late for the Brockville Tikis in a Central Canada Hockey League Tier 2 game Wednesday night at the Memorial Centre.
The visiting Prescott Flyers had already built a 3-0 lead and then tacked on another couple of goals after the Tikis' brief uprising to claim a 5-2 victory, the same score by which the Flyers toppled the Tikis on Saturday night in Prescott.
It was Prescott's fourth win in its past six games (4-1-1-0) and pulled the Flyers (9-14-1-2) into a sixth-place tie in the Richardson Division with the Renfrew Timberwolves (10-11-1-0). Prescott, however, has played four more games than Renfrew.
The Tikis, meanwhile, remain mired in last place in the division with a 5-21-0-0 mark.
Greg Heika and Brad Douesnard scored in the first period for the Flyers, with Cody Adams adding what proved to be the game-winning goal just shy of two minutes into the second period.
After Alex Gauthier, on a power play seven seconds into the third period, and Anthony Meehan, 2:05 later, scored for Brockville to make it a 3-2 game, the Flyers pulled away when Tyler Ollson scored less than three minutes later and Brendan Muir completed the scoring another seven minutes on.
Prescott outshot the Tikis 36-26 in the game.
