Tikis make it three in a row - Recorder & Times
Recorder & Times - Jonathon Brodie
You can definitely say the Brockville Tikis have taken a turn for the better this year.
The Tikis won their third consecutive game Wednesday after beating the Westport Rideaus 4-2 at the Memorial Centre.
Brockville won just six games all last season and not once did they win back-to-back games.
The Tikis stormed out of the gates against Rideaus by scoring three unanswered goals, starting with Antonini Licandro and Adam Van Ettinger in the first period.
In the second period, Brockville defenceman Danny Totten scored his first goal of the season before Westport started making a comeback when Simon Corriveau finally solved netminder Kyle Herbison.
The Tikis had some tense moments in the late goings of the game after Rideaus Dawson Fawcett found the back of the net while his team had the extra attacker out with a little more than a minute left in the game.
Van Ettinger put the game out of reach when he scored an empty netter 26 seconds later.
Brockville has now won all three games they’ve played at the Memorial Centre this season. The Tikis won just three home games all year.
Next up for the Tikis is a matchup against the Athens Aeros on Saturday. Brockville will return to the Memorial Centre next Wednesday with the puck dropping at 7:45 p.m.
