The rivalry between the Brockville Tikis and the Prescott Flyers seems to be getting renewed this season.

The two teams met Wednesday at the Memorial Centre with the Tikis coming out on top with a 5-4 overtime victory.

Brockville and Prescott have played three games against each other this year and each result has been separated by just a single goal.

Wednesday, however, was the first time they’ve gone into overtime with Adam Van Ettinger getting the game winning goal less than a minute into sudden death.

The quick goals were a bit of a theme for the Tikis in their recent win. They opened the game with Maxime Durocher finding the back of the net a little more than a minute in.

That lead only last 31 seconds and until Flyers Shawn Patterson scored a power play goal.

Prescott came out of the first period with a 3-2 lead, but it was another early goal for Brockville in the second period that evened things up, coming off the stick of Mike Hall less than five minutes into the middle frame.

The Tikis started the third period with Dylan Stacey scoring his team-high 20th goal 1:36 into the frame before Flyers Greg Heika helped earn his team a point in the standings by scoring his team-high 22nd goal with less than two minutes to play in regulation.

The win gives Brockville their second straight win and they will travel to Perth on Friday to take on the Richardson Division’s top-ranked Blue Wings.

Prescott, who has now lost two straight, will look to get back to their winning ways when they host the Casselman Vikings on Saturday. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
