Same results in a new year.

The Brockville Tikis dropped their seventh straight game Wednesday after losing 10-3 at home to the Richmond Royals using a short bench of just 14 skaters, plus a goalie.

The result was arguably their worst beatdown and against their toughest competition during their cold spell with Richmond currently tied for second-place in the Richardson Division.

It didn’t take long for things to sour for Brockville as they trailed 3-0 before the midway point of the first period.

The deficit extended to six goals before the Tikis found the back of the net for the first time with Nathan Picard scoring his second goal of the year in the second period.

It was followed up with Brockville assistant captain Danny Totten getting a goal three minutes later.

From there, the Royals punishment continued as they scored four unanswered goals before Tikis Adam Van Ettinger stopped the bleeding while his team was on the power play to round out the game's scoring.

Brockville gave up two shorthanded goals in the game, as well as a pair of markers while they were down a man.

The Tikis will travel to Alexandria to take on the Glens on Friday before returning home next Wednesday to host the Perth Blue Wings, the Richardson Division's top team.
