MABL Power Rankings 2019 (#'s 8-5)
#8. NY Giants
Current Record (4-12)
The NY Giants are on a current 9 game losing streak. The Giants are currently ranked bottom three in hitting (.237) and last in pitching (8.31 era). With so many of the bottom three teams struggling in getting wins lately, the NY Giants are only half a game back of the final playoff spot. If the Giants continue on their losing ways, they can be the first team to get eliminated of playoff contention come July for the second straight year in a row. However, these guys are still scrapping with no quit on their shoulders as they still got 4 more games against the Warhawks and 2 more crucial games against Los Bravos. The players to watch out in the upcoming middle stretch are the hitting core of Hector Arias, Tim Leccese and A.J Torres who are hitting above .400.
#7. Los Bravos
Current Record- (5-12-1)
Los Bravos are also one of the bottom three teams struggling to get wins. Los Bravos are on a current 5 game losing streak. Their rest of the schedule will be evened out to their advantage with 6 games against .500 and over teams and 6 games against .500 and lower teams record wise. Los Bravos are in the sixth and final playoff spot. Their best option is if they can win those 6 games against the bottom teams and sneak a win against a decent team like the Beers, Los Bravos have a chance in making the playoffs and possibly face either the Marlins or Bats in a wild card playoff game. Yet, Los Bravos are ranked 2nd to last in hitting. What has saved their season so far has been their pitching. With the likes of both Maury Baez and Bryant Fuentes, they are combined with 4 wins, 52 strikeouts with an era of 3.26 in 85 2/3 innings pitched.
#6 NYC Warhawks
Current Record- (2-14-2) The Warhawks will need some help down the stretch from other teams in order for them to sneak into the playoffs. Although the Warhawks are on a current 11 game losing streak, they are still 2.5 games back of that 6th and final playoff spot Los Bravos. The Warhawks last win was April 15th which was 2 months ago. In fact, looking at their schedule 7 out of the last 12 games will be against teams under .500. If the Warhawks can go at least 8-4 or 9-3 in their last 12 games, they will for sure be one of the biggest surprises come second half. The manager of the Warhawks mentioned " for this upcoming weekend, I am expecting Efren Rodriguez and Joel Cabrera to start and give us a chance to sweep the NY Giants. Manager Joel also mentioned "i am excited to finally have stability in my infield together this weekend with Moranta at third, Almonte at short, Coco at 2nd and Derek at 1st. The Warhawks also received good news this week that Brandon Percival's expulsion from the league was reversed. Brandon Percival will only serve 4 games of suspension.
#5 NY Beers
Current Record- 8-4-3
The only team in the league with more ties which shows how scrappy the Beers have been all season long. Their hitting hasn't been exciting in previous years, but this year the Beers are ranked 3rd in runs scored (110). The Beers pitching outside of Ryan Smith hasn't impressed me at all this season. In the last 8 games, the Beers have given up 5.3 runs per game. The Beers can careless what playoff seeding they end up because in a one 9 inning wildcard playoff game, Smith will be looking to dominate with his 90mph fastball and wicked curveball. The other highlight of the NY Beers strong start has been Matt Regan. Regan has so far been the masterpiece with the stick and pitching by hitting a homerun, driving in 15 runs and earning 3 wins on that mound. The Beers will continue to score more runs efficiently as they will be taking on Los Bravos this upcoming Sunday.
