From Worst to First!
The Warhawks are a team to be remembered for a long time! They are the first team in league history to ever start with a 2-14-2 record, to then turn it around and win the championship. All season long the Warhawks were not expected to win anything. The Warhawks were a team that came in hot at the right time. Although the Warhawks were favored in winning the championship series, the D'Backs played their hearts out! Unfortunately the D'Backs pitching couldn't hold up. In game 1 of the series, Showtime pitched a hell of a game until his elbow started bothering him. The Warhawks capitalized by scoring 10 unanswered runs in the 6th and 7th innings respectively to defeat the D'backs by the score of 12-6. In game 2 the of the series, the D'Backs went with Victor Rivera. Rivera started off well until he started to show signs of fatigue in the 5th inning. The Warhawks once again took advantage of the weak D'Backs pitching staff. Star short stop Cesar Almonte hit a grand slam off D'Backs LHP Anthony Gomez to break the game open. In addition, Victor Leroux of the Warhawks hit a two-run homer to continue the damage. Efren Rodriguez pitched a solid 6 innings only giving up one earned run on 5 base on balls, and 0 hits to earn his first ever playoff win. Warhawks RHP Robert Perez came in to shut the door in the top of the 7th inning. Both pitchers combined for the first ever no hitter in a championship clinching game in MABL NYC history! Sweet ending for the Cinderella Story NYC Warhawks. Congratulations!
