Esso Fanfest and Friendly Games Kick Off The Tournament

Each year, the Bell Capital Cup hosts a series of friendly games at the Bell Sensplex to welcome teams to the tournament. Over 30 friendly games were played yesterday with a good mix of local Ottawa area teams and international teams taking part. In addition to the friendly games, there were also 3 Sledge Hockey games played on the Mattamy Homes ice pad. Sledge Hockey Easter Ontario was proud to showcase some of the most elite sledge hockey players in the province. There will be more sledge hockey games played today at the Richcraft Sensplex at 9:45Am and 2:30PM (Potvin arena) so make sure you check that out if you are in the area!

The Fanfest presented by Esso, is also a highlight of the friendly day, and a great way for teams to have a little fun before the official tournament games begin. Autographed Sens merchandise was given out as prizing to players who tested

There were many interactive hockey themed games and activites going on at Fanfest this year, but the highlight for most teams year in and year out is the pin trading station. Youg hockey players from all over the world gathered around to swap pins, and to try and collect as many different teams as possible. It's a great bonding experience for the players, and an opportunity to interact with other Bell Capital Cup participants. This year's tournament features teams from California, Finland, New York, Hong Kong, South Carolina, Ohio, and beyond! Hopefully you brough enough pins with you to amass a nice collection!

All things considered, a great way to kick off the tournament. Good luck to all teams participating, and hopefully you have a great experience at the 2015 Bell Capital Cup.
