With just over a month away until the beginning of the 2022 CCBC season, all teams continue to gear up for the season ahead. As we welcome back fans, parents and players back to action for the upcoming season, we are highlighting one pitcher from each respective program throughout the league.

Edmonton Collegiate Hawks:

Halen Knoll, Sophomore, from Edmonton, AB, is a successful two-way talent that the Hawks look to utilize this upcoming season. The Graphic Design major looks to lead the Hawks on the mound in 2022. Knoll pitched during the 2019 CCBC season, during the season he authorized a 3.37 earned run average through 16 innings as he racked up 17 strikeouts but allowed 12 walks through that time. However, the 2021 fall championship showed a determined Knoll as he struck out nine batters throughout 5.2 innings pitched. Knoll looks to continue that dominance this season for the Hawks.

Okanagan College Coyotes:

Senior, Chris Wyslobocki, has been a reliable arm on the mound for the Coyote’s program that thrives on a strong rotation of pitchers. After winning multiple all-conference honours in 2018 and 2019, Wyslobocki looks to continue where he left off in 2019. During the 2019 season Wyslobocki emerged amongst the best, earned run averages in the league with a 1.83 ERA through 34.1 innings. Wyslobocki also struck out 41 batters while walking 20 during the 2019 campaign. The senior from Etobicoke, ON, continues to get stronger and continues to lead by example on and off the field.

Prairie Baseball Academy Dawgs:

Kade Kahlert, from Red Deer, AB, will be battling for a starter role in a deep Dawgs pitching staff, filled with strike throwing talents. After finishing with a 9-15 record in 2019, good enough for fourth in league standings, the Dawgs look to build off this pitching staff to better that record and compete for a top spot amongst the 2022 league standings. Kahlert, will be an integral part of their success this season. In the 2021 fall championship, Kahlert finished with a 0-1 record and a 12.00 earned run average, giving up four runs through three innings pitched. As Kahlert battles for a starting role with the program, he continues to improve his craft on the mound.

Thompson River University Wolfpack:

Zac Robinson, from Ladysmith B.C., is going to be slotted in at the top of the Wolfpacks rotation this season. The freshman pitched seven innings in the fall Championship tournament in which he gave up one run on four hits while racking up six strikeouts. Robinson is part of a strong freshman class for the Wolfpack team that sat at the top of the league standings back in 2019.

University of Calgary Dinos:

Chris Cook, a former second team all-star in 2019, will be an instrumental part of Calgary’s rotation this season. The Richmond, B.C., native has committed to the Edmonton Prospects as a two-way player for the 2022 Western Canadian Baseball League’s season. The two-way talent is going to be contributing in the middle of the batting lineup and at the top of the pitching rotation. Back in 2019, Cook had a record of two wins and zero losses on the mound while pitching 19 inning and striking out 12 batters along the way. Through 89 plate appearances in 2019 Cook had a batting average of .281 with two home runs along the way. Cook, seen as a true team leader on and off the field, is one of five graduating players from their program this season.

University of Fraser Valley Cascades:

Checking in for University of Fraser Valley is Ryan Doyle. Doyle, a left-handed pitcher is majoring in Economics. The veteran will be heavily relied on this season for his ability to produce at a high level. In the 2022 Fall championship, Doyle only pitched one inning, striking out two while giving up one hit during the ninth inning of the fall championship game against Okanagan College.

University of Victoria Golden Tide:

Haldon Craig, freshman, is poised to lead the charge on the mound for the newly introduced program, the Victoria Golden Tide. The big righty has signed with the Victoria HarbourCats for this summer. Craig only pitched one inning in the fall championship and authorized one walk alongside two strikeouts. The big right hander looks to lead the way on the mound for the Golden Tide program which strives to produce a successful inaugural season.

Vancouver Island University Mariners:

A familiar name amongst the program, Jordan Moffat, will lead the way on the mound for the Vancouver Island University Mariners. Moffat, a left-handed pitcher from Richmond, B.C., has been a mainstay in the rotation as the Mariner’s Ace. Back in 2019, Moffat had a 2-3 record while pitched 28 innings with 22 strikeouts and 12 walks. He concluded his 2019 season with an earned run average of 3.53. The Mariner’s will lean heavily on Moffat for his experience and leadership in the program this season.
