Leslie nets hat trick, leads Cumberland to 8-3 win over Gloucester

Jared Leslie netted a hat trick to lead the Cumberland Grads over the Gloucester Rangers, 8-3.

Leslie notched his first tally 5:11 into the first period. He then added goals at 4:14 into the third and at 11:02 into the third.

 

Cumberland scored early and often, and held a 5-1 advantage after the first 20 minutes of play.

The Grads forced Gloucester's goalies to work all game long, finishing with 55 shots and forcing 47 saves. Cedric Hansen made eight stops and Doug Johnston made 39. Cumberland stifled the Rangers' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Grads surpassed their usual scoring output this season. Cumberland has scored at the pace of 4.2 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cumberland additionally got points from Zackhary Salloum, who also tallied one goal and one assist, Mathieu Dubois, who also racked up one goal and three assists, and Martin Frechette, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Others who scored for Cumberland included Marc-Olivier Bouchard and Joey Sollazzo, who scored one goal each. In addition, Cumberland received assists from Shawn Cameron, who had two, Michael Larose, who had five, and Alex Cote, Grant Hebert, and Branden Makara, who contributed one each.

Gloucester could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 16 minutes in penalties during the game.

The Rangers were led by Dan Martin, who registered one goal and one assist. Martin scored 8:52 into the first period to make the score 3-1 Cumberland. Gloucester also had goals scored by Drew Shields and Paul Vella, who each put in one. More assists for Gloucester came via Vincent Guimond, who had one.

Ryan Coughlin rejected 14 shots on goal for the Grads. Cumberland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Gloucester registered zero goals on three power play opportunities.
