Winand helps the Champion City Kings down the Richmond RiverRats 6-2
The Champion City Kings (17-23) beat the Richmond RiverRats (14-26) 6-2 on Saturday at McBride Stadium behind Ridge Winand, who went 2-3 and hit a home run.
He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.Pete Munger pitched lights out for the Champion City Kings. The Richmond RiverRats managed just one hit off of the the Champion City Kings' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out none during his three innings of work.
Troy Paris was hot from the plate for the Richmond RiverRats. Paris went 2-4 and scored one run. He singled in the fourth innings and doubled in the sixth inning.
Luis Jimenez recorded his first win of the year for the Champion City Kings. He allowed one run over 3 2/3 innings. Jimenez struck out one, walked one and gave up three hits.
Mitchell Lawson was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked five, struck out one, and allowed four runs.
