CHMA Postpones Season
Cleveland, OH. – As college athletic conferences and institutions around the country continue to postpone intercollegiate competition for this Fall, College Hockey Mid America (CHMA) has also announced changes to its competition schedule for the 2020-21 season.
The CHMA members teams have decided that, due to the current evolution of the COVID-19 pandemic, including state and institution restrictions, conference competition will be postponed until January 1, 2021, provided it is safe to resume play at that time. The CHMA plan is to play a full conference schedule, beginning in January, which will also allow teams the flexibility to schedule outside of conference, if they choose. In addition, the season has been extended by 3 weeks, to give teams and players the opportunity to get additional games this season. CHMA hopes to give the student-athletes the best possible experience in these uncertain times.
The CHMA Playoffs plan to be held March 26-28 2020, hosted by IUP at the S&T Bank Arena in Indiana, PA.
Institutions will have the ability to enrich the student-athlete experience by conducting athletic related activities based on campus protocols and guidance from local health authorities at their discretion.
