Wellington boosted by Welsh's play in net, beats Milton 2-1

Taylor Welsh had a standout game with 31 saves, and the Wellington Dukes beat the Milton Icehawks 2-1.

Wellington was paced by Marco Azzano, who finished with one goal. Azzano scored 12:31 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Wellington. Luc Brown picked up the assist.

The Dukes kept Milton's goalie busy throughout the game, and Scott Smith made 39 saves on 41 shots.

Wellington also got a goal from Brody Morris as well. In addition, Wellington received assists from Will Cook and Abbott Girduckis, who contributed one each.

The Icehawks forced Wellington goalie Welsh to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Milton was led by Liam Stevens, who scored the team's only goal. Stevens scored on the power play 5:59 into the third period to make the score 1-1. The Icehawks had gained a power play chance when Jake Falcao was whistled for holding. Brendan Doherty provided the assist.

The Dukes incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Milton incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
