Central Michigan DIII Completes the Sweep vs. Augustana; Wins 15-4
Mount Pleasant, MI- The Central Michigan Chippewas faced off against Augustana College for the second day in a row. Coming off of a victory, the team was determined to win again.
The first period started off with captain James Gleason scoring a goal, but Augustana fired back and got their first goal. Both teams were going hard and both were putting shots on goal. Augustana scored to take the lead by one, but that did not last long. Dalton Sutherland shot and scored two goals, his 7th and 8th of the weekend. The period continued with both teams fighting hard to get the puck into the net, but ended with the Chips up by one with a score of 3-2.
The Chips came back out onto the ice more determined than before. After a Shane Agnello goal, Augustana got another goal, proving they would not be easy to beat this game. Ryan Tyrer quickly shot back and sent the score back up to 5-3. Tyrer and Agnello both scored again, but defense continued to keep Augustana at 3 goals. Patrick Bresser ended the second period scoring one more goal making the score 8-3.
The third period began with Augustana scoring another goal, but Benjamin Hryciuk fired back giving the Chips another point. CMU kept the fighting up scoring six more goals, including James Gleason’s second goal of the game. The game ended with Jordan Wadge scoring the last goal making the final score 15-4.
The Chippewas kick off the 2017-18 season outscoring Augustana College 26-5 this weekend. The chips will go on the road next weekend to Geneva, IL to battle Northern Illinois.
