Central Michigan Defeats Oakland 8-4 for First Win vs. Grizzlies in Program History

Mount Pleasant, MI- The Chippewas faced off against the Oakland University Grizzlies for the second game of the two game weekend series at home.

Coming off of a close loss last night, the Chippewas came prepared to put the puck in the net. Sophomore Jordan Wadge knew the team needed to come out scoring fast,

“We just need to start out hard, yesterday in the third period, late third period is when we started playing.”

Within the first 40 seconds of play the Chips did just that Nate Allgaier with the goal. Oakland quickly followed with another goal to tie the game. CMU with the puck again, Joey Simoncelli shoots and scores his first goal as a chippewa! Later in the first, Oakland scored agian to tie the game 2-2 to end the first.

The Chips start off the second ready to get some more goals. Brennan Martin with the puck makes a quick shot pushing CMU ahead. Dalton Sutherland follows suit, scoring another one for central. The Grizzlies score once more to close the gap to 4-3 at the end of the second.

The third period began with the Chips still hungry for more. Nate Allgaier scores for CMU, then closely after another goal by the Chippewas is scored! With 12 seconds remaining on the clock Dalton Sutherland receives the puck and hits the back of the net, and CMU wins for the first time against Oakland 8-4.

The Chippewas increase their overall record to 11-4, and will face off against Miami (OH) University in a two game homestand next weekend.
