CHE Player Spotlight: Dante Youhon
NAME: Dante Youhon
SCHOOL: University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg
HOMETOWN: North Huntingdon, PA
YEAR: Senior
POSITION: Forward
Q: What is the single best thing about playing college hockey for your current CHE team?
A: It's definitely being around and getting to hangout with the boys all the time. We have such a tight group that it makes it really enjoyable to go out there and be a part of something.
Q: What is the most-memorable hockey game you have ever been involved in, at any level?
A: I would say the semifinal in the National Championships during my freshman year in college. We were down by a goal with a little over a minute left, and we ended up coming back to beat the team with 3 seconds left. It was just a really special game.
Q: Are there any routines or rituals you must stick to before every game, such as listening to a certain song?
A: I'm not as superstitious as a lot of the guys that I've played with, for sure. I like to kind of do my own thing before the game, get my stick taped before warm-ups, and just kind of relax and get ready to play.
Q: Which opposing CHE team do you really enjoy playing against, and why?
A: I would have to say it's Saint Vincent. I have a few friends on the team that I played with in travel hockey during high school, and the games always seem to be a close game against them.
Q: If you were put in charge of the entire sport of hockey and could change just one thing about the game, what would it be?
A: I would definitely try to open the game up a little more -- maybe by making the goalies at the pro level have smaller pads or something like that -- to get more scoring in the game.
Q: What made you choose to attend your current school?
A: Location was a big thing for me, so Pitt Greensburg being so close to home was really important in me choosing to go here. Also, the team was coming off of winning a national championship, so that didn't hurt either.
Q: What is your major and what do you want to do with it after graduation?
A: I am a communications major. After graduation, I would like to either work in the public relations field or advertising.
Q: What person outside of your family has done the most for you?
A: That's a really tough one! I would have say John Winebrenner. He was my coach for my last two years of travel hockey and was really easy to talk to outside of hockey. He has inspired me to continue to play and also get into coaching after my playing days are over.
Q: Would you rather be Superman or Batman, and why?
A: Definitely Batman. I feel like it would be fun to play with all the cool gadgets and stuff he has.
Q: What are your two favorite apps on your smartphone, and why?
A: The first is probably the ESPN fantasy app. Even though my fantasy football team isn't real hot this year, it's still something to do on Sundays. Twitter is another app that I like to use because it allows me to see everything that going on in the world.
